STATEMENT OF FAITH

We consider Biblical Integrity of great importance  and  relevance to our lives

God

We believe in one eternal God, the source and goal of life, who exists as three persons in the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In love and joy, God creates and sustains the universe, including humanity, male and female, who are made in God’s image. He is immeasurable in power, incomprehensible in love, infinite in goodness—God overflows with unimaginable beauty and wonder. God abounds in mercy and grace and is the very source of life and light.

Father

We believe in God the Father Almighty, whose love is the foundation of salvation and righteous judgment, and who calls us into covenant relationship with Himself and with one another. He also watches over us in such a way that not a hair can fall from our head without the will of our Father in heaven: in fact, he causes all things to work together for the good of those who love him and are called according to His purposes.

Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God sent to redeem the world. He is fully God and fully human. He came to show us God and model perfect humanity. He reconciles us to God through his life, death, and resurrection. He has fully paid for all our sins with His precious blood, and has set us free from the tyranny of evil. He is now actively present with us as Savior, Teacher, Lord, and Friend. We love and trust Him as the one who saves us from our sin; and with repentance and joy we embrace Him as Lord of our life.

Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who breathed God’s message into the prophets and apostles, opens our eyes to God’s Truth in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit makes all of us aware of God's presence. He causes us to understand the word of God. The Spirit permanently indwells, graciously sanctifies, lovingly leads, and empowers all who are brought to faith in Christ so that they might live in obedience to the Scriptures. The Spirit grants us spiritual gifts and bears spiritual fruit in us for the work of ministry and the building up of the body of Christ.

Salvation

We believe that God made this world good. But humans chose to live without God and turned their backs on Him and His plan for their lives. Our separation from God cannot be restored by our own power. Through his work in us, God draws us to himself. Salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone, to whom we must respond with repentance, faith, and obedience. Through Christ we come into a right relationship with God, our sins are forgiven, and we receive eternal life. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life." -- John 3:16

The Bible

We believe that God inspired the Bible and has given it to us as the uniquely authoritative, written guide for Christian living and thinking. The Scriptures are inerrant, true and reliable. They point us to God, guide our actions, nurture us in spiritual maturity, and direct us to joy and purpose in life.

The Christian Life

Our goal in this life and in the next is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever. To this end we seek to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and to be made like him through our discipleship. We seek to know Christ and to make him known. We rest in his work in our lives and we pass on his covenant of love to our families, friends and those who are far from God.

The Church

We believe in the church as the people of God, composed of all who believe in Jesus Christ. We are called to love, support and equip each other through worship, God’s word and mutual accountability. We believe that God calls the church to be his hands and heart in our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, cities, and throughout our world. We reach out together as God’s agents of love and reconciliation in the world by modeling God’s love and proclaiming the hope of the gospel to the world.

The Future

We believe in the coming personal return of Jesus Christ, in the resurrection of the dead, in God’s judgment of all persons with perfect justice and mercy, and in eternal reward and punishment. Ultimately, Christ’s kingdom will be victorious over all evil, and his people will reign with him in eternal life. Our comfort in life and in death is that we are not our own, but belong to our faithful Savior Jesus Christ. Because we belong to Him, Christ, by His Holy Spirit, assures us of eternal life and makes us wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

History

Compass Christian Church stands in the tradition of historic Christianity. Our beliefs can be summed up with a look at the Apostles Creed. By saying yes to this creed, we are saying we stand with the Christian faith throughout the ages.
